چکیده

The incidence of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) is highest in Eastern countries, such as Thailand, South Korea, and China, but its mortality are increasing worldwide. Over recent decades, the worldwide age-standardized for iCCA has been steadily increasing, whereas that perihilar CCA distal decreasing. macroscopic growth pattern somewhat different according to anatomic location tumor. can show three main patterns growth: mass forming, periductal infiltrating, intraductal growing. Morphologic classification important understand mode tumor spread, which critical predicting a tumor’s resectability planning extent surgery. Furthermore, types resulting imaging findings list differential diagnosis. This review provides comprehensive overview current knowledge what envisaged on horizon iCCA, focusing mas-forming type. 1. Unusual Images of Mass-Forming Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma

We experienced a case of mass-forming intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma which could not been diagnosed accurately without pathologic findings. A 78-year-old Japanese woman with no particular symptoms was admitted for changes in liver function tests. Ultrasonography revealed a solid liver tumor. When there are no typical imaging features, no pathognomonic clinical findings and no obvious risk fact...

MRI features of combined hepatocellular- cholangiocarcinoma versus mass forming intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma

BACKGROUND Combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma (cHCC-CC) is a rare primary liver tumor, which has overlapping imaging features with mass forming intra-hepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Previous studies reported imaging features more closely resemble ICC and the aim of our study was to examine the differential MRI features of cHCC-CC and ICC with emphasi...

Pathobiological implications of MUC16/CA125 expression in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma-mass forming type.

OBJECTIVES MUC16 carries the peptide epitope CA125, which is well known as a marker of ovarian cancer. High serum levels of MUC16 (CA125) have been reported not only in patients with ovarian cancer but also in patients with liver diseases. We evaluated the expression of MUC16 in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma-mass forming type (ICC-MF) tissues. METHODS We examined the expression of MUC16 by ...

Prognostic value of MUC4 for mass-forming intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma after hepatectomy.

Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA), a lethal malignancy afflicting many thousands of patients throughout the world, develops through a multi-step progression. We have established an oral thioacetamide-induced model of rat CCA recapitulating the histologic progression of human CCA, especially for mass-forming CCA (MF-CCA). Our previous DNA microarray study showed MUC4 is overexpressed in rat CCA. Herein, ...

Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma: current perspectives

Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is the second most common malignancy arising from the liver. ICC makes up about 10% of all cholangiocarcinomas. It arises from the peripheral bile ducts within the liver parenchyma, proximal to the secondary biliary radicals. Histologically, the majority of ICCs are adenocarcinomas. Only a minority of patients (15%) present with resectable disease, with a m...
